Web Portal Launch and New Policies

WEB PORTAL LAUNCH
We are proud to announce the launch of the new customer-facing web portal for all clients of our service, located at:

While we will still use this mailing list to communicate urgent issues and service modifications, this website, which officially goes live on 1 January, 2007, will serve as a posting board for service updates and upgrades as they happen with the service in addition to uptime and service statistics and future services to be launched at later dates. It is our intention to make this site the first point of presence for all non-essential or urgent information that affects our clients.

NEW POLICIES
In addition to the launch of our new customer portal, SMILING PEANUT has decided to develop new policies that affect how we manage your service in order to create a complete, unified agreement between us and our clients. These policies shall take effect on 1 January, 2007, and apply to all current and future clients of SMILING PEANUT web hosting. Below, we shall attempt to highlight a few of the more important changes in these policies, but we encourage you to read these policies in there entirety to make sure that you understand them fully. Our new Privacy Policy

In the interest of privacy and security, both for our clients and for us, we have adopted this policy that affects how we handle personal information.
In short, we collect from our clients only the information we need to do business with them and we take the utmost care to ensure that this information is protected. If we don’t need the info, we won’t ask for it. And you, as a client, have the option to remove your information from any list or group that is not essential for us to operate our business.
In addition, we may collect information about websites, their popularity and usage by employing tracking software that monitors traffic but does not otherwise affect our clients or their websites.
Our new Terms and Conditions of Service

This new policy governs the majority of our business and how we interact with our clients in relation to the service(s) you purchase from us. Much of this is legalese to make sure that both parties involved are protected, but there are some major points that you should be aware of.
- Bandwidth overage: Due to the overhead costs involved in providing extra bandwidth from our providers, we have been forced to change the fee for bandwidth overage from $1 per GB to $5 per GB.
- Late fee: We will endeavor to provide an invoice to you by the tenth (10th) of each month, and unless otherwise stated in the invoice or agreed to in advance, your invoice shall be due in full by the fifteenth (15th) of the month. If your payment is not received by this time, we shall impose a one-time $20 late fee that will immediately be applied to your account.
- Suspension: If payment is not received within seven (7) days of the due date, your service shall be suspended until payment is made. There will be no additional charge to restore service other than the late fee described above.
- No Spam, No Tolerance: ‘Nuff said.
- Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Policy: We are required to comply with US and international copyright law and must inspect any inquiry that claims a client is publishing intellectual property unlawfully. In short, please don’t publish anything on your website(s) if you have no right to do so.
